While Dan Proctor primarily handles sales and consulting, Rhonda Proctor handles human resources, marketing and training for the company. According to Dan, Rhonda has a knack for managing people, setting standards and holding people accountable to those. Dan's father, Holmes "H.H." Proctor, opened Proctor's Restaurant Equipment & Supply Co., or Resco, in 1952. His wife, Nita, worked in the business too, acting as purchasing agent and handling some sales.

So the "punk" got out of the commodities business and began working in sales for a maker of hospital, restaurant and hotel furnishings. During the early years, the company operated a sales office in Chicago and a warehouse in Champaign. But in 2004, the Proctors moved back to Champaign, and two years ago, Proctor bought out the other dealer. In 1984 – when his father retired from Resco – Dan Proctor returned to the family business, working largely in sales for 10 years.
We specialize in concrete construction projects with the most difficult underground shoring requirements. Proctor credits George Zawacki, who helped develop food-service areas in Target stores, with teaching him things that made it possible for him to take on projects such as Jimmy John's. "The day I met Jimmy John was the day I saw more future than I ever had before," Proctor said. "He had the neatest, most concise method of getting into the restaurant business. It was a combination of his personality and his concept, which fit his personality."
In 1995, to satisfy an itch, he left the business and moved to Chicago to work for the contract/design portion of Rykoff-Sexton, a food-service distribution company.
